St George's Secondary School
Without electricity in their dorms, students rely on either candles or wax lamps to study. Using these can cause respiratory issues for the students, as well as pose a huge risk of an uncontrollable fire.
Providing solar power lighting keeps the children safe from a fire in their dorm, inhaling toxic chemicals from oil lamps, and allows them to focus on what they want to do: learn!
For only $11, you can provide a clean, renewable light source to a young child eager to learn. Please follow the link below to donate.

About the School:
St George's Secondary School is a located on a beautiful campus approximately 100 miles west of the capital of Uganda, Kampala. 650 students that are eager to learn attend the school daily, with approximately half living on campus. With 25 teachers and 9 support staff, they are dedicated to providing the best education and a safe learning environment for the children. Lack of running water and electricity can make things difficult for everyone involved.
Where your donations go:
With the new female dormitories close to completion, they will soon house 216 eager to learn young women. We are looking to raise $2300 to provide solar lighting for inside of the dorms, as well as security lighting for outside. Once the funds are raised, local contractors will be commissioned to install everything. This gives your donations the largest impact possible. Please donate below. Let the children worry about one less thing and do what they want to do: focus on learning!
Updates:
February 2021: Enough funds were raised and construction was completed by Shami Electricals.
